van de Geijn joined Economic Consulting Services in 1988 and became
a Vice President in 1994. Mr. van de Geijn specializes in the area of
U.S. unfair trade proceedings, including antidumping and countervailing
duty investigations and reviews.
Mr. van de Geijn has assisted numerous
foreign clients in all stages of U.S. antidumping proceedings, including
the preparation of comprehensive sales and cost data to be submitted
to the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the development of optimum allocation
methodologies for the response. In addition, he has assisted a number
of international clients in developing optimum response strategies that
minimize the financial liabilities to the company as a result of the
antidumping orders, while maximizing continued access to the U.S. market.
Mr. van de Geijn also has participated
in unfair trade proceedings on behalf of U.S. producers. In these cases,
he provided critical analyses and testimony regarding sales and cost
data provided by respondents to the Department of Commerce, and supplied
alternative methodologies to ensure a maximum impact on the unfairly
traded imports.
Mr. van de Geijn also has provided economic
analysis regarding the impact of unfairly traded imports on the condition
of the U.S. industry before the International Trade Commission.
Mr. van de Geijn has developed company-specific
sales monitoring programs to assist foreign producers in taking preventive
action when faced with current or potential antidumping proceedings.
Using these programs, key factors driving the antidumping duty liability
are identified. Together with the client, measures to control these
key factors are developed and implemented, resulting in significant
financial savings to the client, while preserving access to the U.S.
market. In addition, sales activities can be monitored on an ongoing
basis to provide up-to-date information on the firms potential
liabilities associated with the antidumping proceedings.
In addition to his involvement in unfair
trade proceedings, Mr. van de Geijn has participated in the preparation
of expert witness reports relating to intercorporate transfer prices
submitted as part of tax litigation proceedings before the U.S. tax
courts. Mr. van de Geijn has also been involved in a number of economic
studies relating to the impact of capital investments in the regional
transportation sector.
Mr. van de Geijn received his B.A. in International
Relations from the University of Maryland, where he also completed the
course work for an M.A. in economics. Mr. van de Geijn is fluent in
French, German, Spanish and Dutch.
