ung J. Lee joined Economic Consulting Services, LLC (ECS) in 1997.  As a Senior Economist, Mr. Lee provides economic and management consulting services to multinational corporations and law firms with his expertise on international trade, economics, accounting, and database management.  Mr. Lee has extensive expertise in a wide spectrum of international trade and unfair trade practices, including antidumping, countervailing, safeguards, and Section 337 unfair practices in import trade.   

Mr. Lee has worked on numerous antidumping and countervailing duty investigations and reviews conducted by the U.S. Department of Commerce (“Department”) on behalf of both petitioners and respondents.  Mr. Lee has worked with key accounting, information management systems, sales, and production officials of multinational corporations, and developed the sales and cost of production data in order to meet the rigorous data requirements of the Department.  In that capacity, Mr. Lee’s scope of engagement included reviewing their accounting records and systems, determining appropriate cost allocation methodologies, and preparing the final sales and cost databases.  In several cases, he developed computer applications to monitor foreign producers’ antidumping liability and profitability on a sale-by-sale basis.  Mr. Lee has also assisted foreign producers in preparing and successfully completing the sales and cost verification conducted by the Department.  Mr. Lee has acquired extensive experience in all aspects of verification, including various accounting and audit issues such as completeness, reconciliation, and allocation methodologies. 

Mr. Lee has also worked on numerous litigation cases involving international trade, including trade remedies investigations, economic-damage civil litigation, and business valuation.  Mr. Lee’s engagement with respect to litigation cases included financial statement analysis, database development and analysis, discounted cash flow analysis, review of expert report and underlying data, and evaluation of the information relied on and methodology employed.  Mr. Lee also participated in the preparation of expert/rebuttal reports and depositions.

Mr. Lee received his B.A. in Economics from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts in 1996 with magna cum laude.  Mr. Lee received his M.A. in International Economics and Finance at Graduate School of International Economics and Finance at Brandeis University in 1997, where he was elected as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society.  Mr. Lee is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Management Accountants.  Mr. Lee is fluent in English, Korean, and Japanese.
