U.S. Import Surges Report
Each quarter, ECS generates a report that identifies apparent import surges. The current report covers imports through the first quarter of 2008, comparing them with first quarter imports in 2007 and 2006. The Import Surges Report is compiled from the Census Bureau’s official import data. All commodities are examined and compared at the six-digit level of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. Quantities reflect consumption quantity 1, while values are based on the C.I.F. value. The current report provides commodity/country combinations that have exhibited an increase in quantity of at least 20% between 2007 and 2008, with a 2008 value of at least $20 million. Boxed instances indicate a decline in average unit values of at least 20%. Click here to enter the report. ECS welcomes any comments or suggestions you might have concerning this report. |
